Abstract

This chapter discusses the structure of the labour market forecasting model used. The modular structure of the model makes it possible to distinguish the various components of the employment growth at the different job levels and occupational domains. The chapter examines the conceptual framework that makes it possible to distinguish the job level and domain effects due to demand-side developments from labour market developments that occur as a result of the interaction between supply and demand in the various labour market segments. It describes the procedure used to classify the job level and domain of the 48 occupational segments distinguished in Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market's forecasting model. The chapter provides an overview of the labour market structure for the various types of education within higher education, distinguishes 20 types of education at the higher vocational level and 16 types of education at the university level.
