Abstract

The investigation of probability of causation attributable to a defective automotive produce is described in this chapter. Case examples describe the investigation of alleged defects in seat belt and air bag design and function, as well as roof strength (in rollover collisions). Sources of data and methods for analysis are described in detail, as well as how the analysis is used to estimate a case-specific comparative risk ratio and associated probability of causation attributable to the alleged defect.
