Abstract

Urban tourism has positive effects on the City Such as generating financial support and improving the city's atmosphere, but may also have negative impacts such its overuse of resources. In this chapter, an activity-based approach to tourists' behaviour analysis is combined with a game-theoretic methodology to study the interaction between individual tourists, as well as the interaction between tourists and the tourism information offices. We postulate that, when integrated in an Internet-based information system, this approach can support urban authorities to achieve sustainable tourism development, and also support individual tourists planning their urban day trips as a customized experience.
