Abstract

Postmastectomy irradiation is indicated for patients who are at high risk of local and regional recurrence. However, postmastectomy radiation therapy in the setting of reconstruction is associated with increased risk of complications. In the current section we discuss presurgical considerations and postmastectomy radiation therapy considerations including volumes, doses, and other radiation therapy related factors that may help to reduce complications associated with postmastectomy radiation therapy without compromising oncological outcomes.
