Abstract
One of the innovations in medical care is offering customized treatment. The expectation is that these specific treatments will improve the survival chances of cancer patients. This PhD research studied molecular imaging techniques for this role. The findings were that CT-PET scans can be used to identify the most dangerous areas in the tumour that can be compensated with a higher dose of radiotherapy. In the upcoming years, this hypothesis will be tested on the basis of these successful results. This research was financed by the Koningin Wilhelmina Fonds (Dutch Cancer Society).
