Abstract

High-dose radiotherapy is one of the pillars of modern anti-cancer treatments. Even though conformal radiation delivery techniques have been developed throughout the last decades, normal tissue toxicities remain an important challenge. Several approaches are established to improve outcomes and lower toxicities, e.g. incorporation of fiducial markers in image guidance during planning and treatment delivery, and medical devices (endo-rectal devices and spacers). This chapter provides an overview of the new approaching strategies to secure full target coverage and spare normal tissues using various medical devices.
