Abstract

Autoimmune serology for the idiopathic inflammatory myopathies has over the years gained impact in the diagnostic work-up of these diseases. In The
Netherlands the myositis line immuno-assay is offered by a limited number of laboratories, but the distinct phases from request to interpretation of results, are rather variable. These phases are explored by means of a questionnaire. Based on the results a consensus has been obtained about requesting, performing, reporting and interpreting the test results. The road to and the result of this harmonization initiative are reported in this article.
