Abstract
This introductory chapter provides a brief synopsis of the different chapters that this book contains. Following this, it takes this one step further by discussing how deception might impact memory. Finally, the chapter explains why expert testimony on issues such as deception and memory are especially relevant in recent legal cases. It stresses the relevance of this expert testimony by showing that incorrect ideas about deception and memory are particularly prevalent in the courtroom.
