Abstract

The book chapter examines the case law of the boards of appeal of the European Patent Office on procedural aspects of appeal proceedings. In particular, it elaborates on the role and function of the Rules of Procedure of the Boards of Appeal and shows their impact on the decisions of the boards. The chapter takes a procedural angle on the question of how IP law is applied on a European level.
