Abstract
Please provide an abstract of your PhD thesis between 100/130 words:
Understanding human health behaviour is the basis for effective health promotion interventions. Several theoretical models exist, which help to increase our knowledge with regard to the factors that can influence behaviour such as smoking cessation, physical activity or a healthy diet. Many models concentrate on the motivational determinants. However, research indicates that there is a lack of understanding regarding factors and processes that occur before and after the formation of motivation.
This thesis investigated, based on the I-Change Model, how a better understanding of health behaviour can be reached - step-by-step.
