Abstract
Glaucoma is an eye disease that can cause permanent loss of vision. In addition to increased pressure within the eye, decreased blood supply to the nerve of the eye is also believed to be an important cause of glaucoma. The current thesis shows that a new non-invasive technology: OCT (optical coherence tomography) angiography, measures the blood supply to the nerve of the eye efficiently. It also confirms that the blood supply is reduced in glaucoma. An effective way of preventing glaucoma blindness is to detect the disease early. The current thesis shows that OCT angiography is no better than the currently used methods in the early detection of glaucoma.
