Abstract

Two to three adults develop deep vein thrombosis every year in the Western world. Roughly half of these patients will develop chronic leg problems as a result, known as post-thrombotic syndrome. In addition, a significant number of people develop leg problems caused by compression of the iliofemoral veins. Stenting (and in some cases an open surgical procedure) has recently been used to treat these patients. This dissertation found positive technical results and a significant reduction in perceived symptoms following this treatment.
