Abstract

Many challenges in business process management (BPM) are attributed to the first phase of the BPM lifecycle; process discovery. Process discovery is found to be an essential part of requirements engineering (RE) in software development. Typically, process models are developed as the deliverables of this phase. In recent years, agile principles are being used to overcome challenges in software development projects. As BPM and RE activities are so tightly-knit, agile principles may also be used to address challenges in process modeling projects. The purpose of this workshop was to examine the interrelations between requirements engineering and business process management with an agility perspective and investigate how agile principles may change the BPM phases. Out of the eight high-quality submissions we received, three of them were accepted as regular papers and three as short papers. The presenters and participants created a fruitful discussion environment on examining agility in the context of BPM.
