Abstract

In recent literature, researchers have warned us against significant changes in the disaster landscape. First, they point to an increase in the number of disasters since the second half of the twentieth century. They also stress that disasters are undergoing qualitative changes, making them structurally different from disasters in the past. This dissertation aims to shed light on the consequences of these changes and provide researchers and practitioners with better insights into the need for modern and updated disaster management.
