Lecture series Sustainable Development Goals: The United Nations has set Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) that should be achieved by 2030. These goals are meant to ensure a better and more sustainable future for all. They address challenges such as: poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice. In this lecture series participants will gain insights into how a number of these challenges are related to each other. Furthermore they will learn what the different viewpoints on sustainability are.
Lecture 2: Circularity of materials to promote sustainability –SDG 12. Plastics consumption is increasing due to a growing world population and economic growth. As a result, the use of fossil resources and greenhouse gas emissions are rising. There is also a growing concern about plastic pollution and harmful micro plastics in our food and environment. This lecture will highlight how a circular economy approach can promote sustainability of materials and what challenges we face to reach a sustainable production and consumption pattern
