In this article, the authors reflect on the evaluation of ICO which was conducted as part of the accreditation process. This evaluation was focused on the quality of the educational program for PhD candidates, the research of ICO staff members, and the collaboration between members of this research school. These three issues coincided with the main targets which were set by ICO during the period 2006-2011. The article concludes with a view towards the next period of accreditation, that is, 2012-2017. During this period, ICO aims to provide high quality programs for the training of educational researchers, thus contributing to the quality of educational research, and strengthening coherence within educational sciences in The Netherlands and Europe.
