Abstract

The present article focuses on the Inter-American System for the Protection of
Human Rights (Inter-American System) in the context of disability. It addresses
several relevant issues regarding complaint mechanisms. The article is divided into three main parts. The first part explains the organs of the Inter-American System and corpus iuris centered on disability rights. The second part explores rights to non-discrimination and non-segregation of persons with disabilities based on relevant reports and recommendations issued by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, as well as case-law of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. The last part of this article includes some concluding remarks.
