Abstract

This chapter examines the freedom of expression (in public media) of environmental law professors, focusing on the phenomenon of SLAPPS (Strategic Lawsuits against Public Participation). Highlighting that it is important that environmental law experts can raise their voice, the chapter also sheds light on the duty of care but also vulnerability of such experts by discussing a Dutch case about the liability of an expert who made statements on the criminal liability of a company because of breaching environmental law.
