Abstract

GPs are often the primary point of contact for people with psychological disorders and many patients make decisions about their treatment in consultation with their GPs. Unfortunately, many GPs lack the knowledge or time to make a proper initial assessment. As a result, many psychological disorders are missed or misdiagnosed, meaning patients do not receive the help they need. We researched a new e-diagnostics system called TeleScreen, which helps GPs identify and diagnose psychological problems. Patients complete an online diagnostic process to identify their symptoms in detail. The GPs and the patients were extremely pleased with TeleScreen and the online diagnostic approach proved extremely valid.
