Abstract
This article constitutes a new contribution on the study of the specific entropy of poly(alpha-n-alkyl) methacrylates adsorbed on silica or alumina and when they are in their bulk phases for different alkyl groups inside chain of the polymer by using inverse gas chromatography (IGC) technique. The free enthalpy of adsorption of polymers used in this study was calculated for several polar molecules for various temperatures. This makes it possible to obtain the specific enthalpy and specific entropy of the polar probes adsorbed on these polymers in their adsorbed state on alumina and silica or in their bulk phase. Results obtained proved an important effect of the length of alkyl group inside chain of poly(alpha-n-alkyl) methacrylates on the specific entropy.
