Abstract

In the article, a proposal is formulated and discussed to streamline and simplify the requirements for the payment of renewal fees in order to make the European patent system more transparent and user-friendly. By introducing a well-defined period of time between the "due date" of a renewal fee and the date on which the fee can validly be paid, a straightforward and elegant solution is provided.
