Abstract
To foster students’ transition to the labor market, higher education supports them in the development of a broad set of competences, such as flexibility and lifelong learning skills, also called employability competences. Higher education aims to support students in the development of these competences using various pedagogical intervention, such as coaching. This study explores the
relationship between coaching and students’ employability competences, using a mixed-method approach. Data were collected via surveys with students and interviews with experienced coaches. Results show that there is a significant positive relationship between coaching and employability competences. Furthermore, results show that a coach stimulates students to engage in trial and
error and reflection, which in turn enhances their employability competences.
