Abstract

This PhD research study found that an e-health weight management programme is an effective way for Dutch adults to lower their BMI and their caloric intake. The e-health programme that informed participants via video messages had the biggest impact, as it proved to be the most effective and the best evaluated. This PhD research also found that the e-health programme was equally effective for highly-educated people as it was for less highly-educated people. The implementation of an e-health weight management programme can contribute to the development of a cost-effective prevention strategy for obesity.
