Abstract

Several guidelines on neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction have been published by urological organizations, aiming at an international audience. However, some national societies have proposed their own guidelines, often aiming at local application. Guidelines on neurogenic bladder dysfunction from Brazil, China, Colombia, Egypt, Indonesia, and Taiwan have been consulted and have been used for an evaluation and comparison with the guidelines published by major societies and organization in the field. Most of the national guidelines are based on the internationally used guidelines, and specific advice oriented to the local population is rather limited. However, the translation of the recommendations from existing guidelines into the local language is an important aspect in the clinical application of internationally accepted guidelines.
