Abstract

Alternatives to BSSO are osteotomies in the region of the ascending mandibular branch. The intraoral vertical ramus osteotomy (IVRO) and the inverted L osteotomy are alternative procedures for mandibular setback (Yamauchi et al. Oral Surg Oral Med Oral Pathol Oral Radiol Endod 104:747–751, 2007; Jung et al, Br J Oral Maxillofac Surg 52:866– 867, 2014).
