Making 3D Scholarly Editions Reusable: A step-by-step guide for depositing FAIR 3DSEs

Research output: Book/ReportReportAcademic

Abstract

This guidebook aims to assist in the long-term archiving and sharing of 3D research datasets. A key foundation for this is the use of a data repository as a place for safe data storage and retrieval. This guidebook is the first approach to an overview of resources and information for making 3D data and related data objects reusable. By addressing both the technical and conceptual challenges of implementing and preserving 3DSEs, it aims to support the development of sustainable workflows and depositing practices for 3D data.

The target audience of this document is the research community that creates and uses 3DSEs based on the principles of the PURE3D project. Since the application of open-source and open access principles is a fundamental aspect of the 3DSE, this guide is also relevant to creators and users of 3D models in general.
