Abstract
The principle of the lateral mandibular body step osteotomy/ostectomy and the anterior vertical body osteotomy are variants of anterior segment osteotomy for mandibular prognathism but can also be used to reposition the anterior segment of the mandible backward or vertically. This procedure is reserved for special indications and individual treatment situations and is not one of the first-choice forms of therapy. Posterior subapical osteotomy/ostectomy is also reserved for specific indications.
