Abstract
The modernization of judicial cooperation in the European Union is progressing rapidly, becoming a new reality for Member States of the European Union with all the challenges that this necessarily entails. This modernization is contained in a series of instruments that have been recently adopted, setting specific deadlines and legal and technical requirements. Due to the multiple instruments of different levels and categories, this can lead to great complexity for the legal practitioner. This article outlines the EU regulatory framework in the area of service and the taking of evidence, as well as the progress made in an EU co-funded project entitled DIGI-GUARD.
