Abstract
Duijst w, pleumeekers hjcm. Reporting child abuse. Huisarts wet 2014;57(10):342-5. Child abuse is common, and its timely recognition by general practitioners is crucial to dealing with the problem. After it is first recognized, the code for domestic violence and child abuse of the royal dutch medical association (knmg) offers advice about whether or not it should be reported. This article provides further information about the various steps of the code and about recent jurisprudence on professional secrecy in medical practice and child abuse, with emphasis on physical abuse.
