Abstract

Information systems are a vital part of the digital enterprise, and implementation of information systems plays an important role in digital transformation. The core hypothesis of our research is that one of the success factors of information systems implementation is the use of IT architecture principles. In this chapter, we describe the results of our empirical research to validate a measurement instrument measuring IT architecture principles, starting from a hypothesis that IT architecture principles contribute to the implementation of the IS requirements. We describe the results of four case studies at the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration: how can we define, describe, and measure IT architecture principles, with the focus on practical application and quantitative comparability?.
