Abstract

AMOs are technically demanding. Inadequate visualization of the surgical site, tooth crowding, and the risk of compromising segmental perfusion are the main risks of all segmental osteotomies. Technically, sufficient segment fixation can also pose difficulties. For good reasons, isolated maxillary segment osteotomies are avoided if possible.
