Abstract

This research on the interactions between nutrition and medicine in effect and law focuses on the use of nutritional science in the implementation of the European Nutrition and Health Claim Regulation as well as the positive or negative effects resulting from the combined use of foods and pharmaceuticals. Through new scientific insights in the activity of bioactive substances from foods in developing and implementing legislation, the effects of food products can be elucidated more clearly. This can stimulate food innovation and help to better inform consumers about their potential effects.
