Abstract
This thesis focuses on innovation and standardization of platelet function assays in order to optimize patient diagnosis and treatment with respect to haemostasis (a process to prevent and stop bleeding). The standardization of the existing whole blood flow cytometric platelet function assay contributes to the translation of a laboratory technique towards a diagnostic tool. By innovating a bioluminescent assay, coagulation (the process by which blood changes from a liquid to a gel) and platelet function test were bridged, providing a simple and fast strategy for near-patient diagnosis of platelet secretion defects and monitoring of anticoagulants effects.
