Abstract
Enrolment difficulties in a multicentre rct of the (cost)effectiveness of brief counselling for sexual problems in adolescents and young adults: survival tipsdelayed enrolment of study participants and drop-out constitute major threats for successful conductance of scientific research. In this article we describe the problems with recruitment and enrolment in a randomised controlled trial (rct) with the aim to evaluate the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of a new brief counselling intervention for young people who suffer from sexual problems. We also describe a variety of interventions aimed at reducing these problems. We evaluate the effect of these interventions on the recruitment and inclusion of participants in the study.
