Abstract
Autonomy and responsiblility are related. In the Dutch health care system damage of an individual his own health is because of solidarity, damage to society as a whole. Therefore it is important that the ethic debate pays attention to the balance between solidarity and own responsiblity. The criteria causality, guilt, relative efficiency, reasonableness and prohibition of discrimination might help to deliberate between solidarity and own responsiblity for example in cases as smoking and statines and smoking and IVF.
