Abstract

People with intellectual disabilities often need help with daily life because of their lower intellectual abilities. This thesis looked at physical and mental health issues in people with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) and found they have more health problems than the general population. Since ADHD is often linked to ID, the study also explored why ADHD is not diagnosed as often in people with ID. It found that diagnosing ADHD and other mental health issues in people with ID is challenging. To help with this, the study created guidelines for diagnosing mental health problems in people with ID.
