Examining Sexual and Reproductive Health Self-Care Interventions in Ghana-a Scoping Review

This scoping review examined sexual and reproductive health self-care interventions in Ghana to improve understanding of alternative service delivery models. A search across six databases yielded 30 eligible studies published in 2023 and earlier, analyzed using the RE-AIM framework. Interventions covered seven sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) domains, most of them focused on women, with maternal and child health most represented. Most studies addressed at least one RE-AIM dimension; only 16% covered all five. The majority of interventions were designed to address both demand and supply dimensions of service delivery. Overall, findings show that SRHR self-care interventions are adaptable and effective in Ghana but need greater coordination, investment, and integration.
