T1 - European integration: A theme

N2 - This book has the development of the EU as its connecting theme. However, it is not merely a historical study and neither does it deal with the EU exclusively. History, including legal history, is an important tool to understand the integration and disintegration of Europe. However, history alone does not suffice for a full understanding of the integration of Europe. We will therefore use perspectives from several disciplines. The economic perspective plays an important role, but there will also be input from political science, biology, psychology and (legal) philosophy. This combined input of seemingly disconnected disciplines to deal with European integration is the book’s topic.
