Abstract

Impaired arm and hand function due to muscle disorders, for instance, greatly affects the ability to function independently. Arm supports are devices that support arm and hand function, enabling people to perform daily activities independently. However, it is not always possible to find a tool that meets the wishes and needs of the user due to unawareness of the existence of such tools. In addition, not all tools are suitable for everyone. This dissertation shows that improvements can be made regarding the design and provision of suitable tools, and the proper use of them.
