Abstract

In the research of rare diseases, such as thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms (TAAA), where obtaining tissue samples is challenging, research collaborations offer substantial advantages. In recent years, a comprehensive biobank for tissue, blood and urine samples from TAAA patients with and without genetic connective tissue disorders has been established in Aachen. To study changes in extracellular matrix components, particularly elastic fibers, our research group collaborates with various national and international partners, with the aim to promote the exchange of biomaterials, methodological competence and equipment.
