Computational Methods for Dosimetric Characterization of Brachytherapy Sources

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterAcademic

Abstract

Computational dosimetry is primarily used for obtaining the prerequisite dosimetric parameters for every brachytherapy source intended for routine clinical use in the widespread formalism of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) TG-43 (see Chapter 9). Hence, it forms the basis of conventional brachytherapy treatment planning practice and is commonly used to obtain pre-calculated data as input to model-based dose calculation algorithms (MBDCAs) for contemporary treatment planning practice (see Chapter 10).
