Abstract

This thesis looks at how Health Impact Assessment (HIA) and Social Return on Investment (SROI) can be used to measure the health and social benefits of public health programs. The goal is to develop evidence-based tools that can help guide decisions, focusing on the importance of investing in long-term, sustainable initiatives. The research also connects health interventions with the idea of a "Well-being Economy," which emphasises the importance of people's overall well-being and the environment.
For HIA and SROI them to grow and be even more effective, stronger support is needed from laws, better methods, and cooperation across different sectors. This change will help public health systems contribute to Well-being Economies, where well-being, environmental health, and economic success are all linked. By stressing the need to evaluate public health programs in a broad way, this thesis sets the stage for smarter, long-term investments in health and well-being.
