Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo in older adults: impact and treatment efficacy on frailty, postural control and physical activity

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is the most common reported vestibular disorder, with a prevalence rising steeply with age. Although considered to be benign, BPPV appears to affect older adults in multiple dimensions. Delayed diagnosis and decreased treatment efficacy of the gold standard treatment with repositioning maneuvers are frequently reported in older adults. This dissertation aimed to investigate frailty, postural control and physical activity in older adults with BPPV, and the treatment effect of repositioning maneuvers on these components.
