Abstract

This thesis focuses on the evaluation and training of upper extremity skilled performance in persons with C-SCI. Chapter two reports on the responsiveness of the Van Lieshout Test in different subgroups of persons with a C-SCI during rehabilitation. Chapter 3 describes the rehabilitation outcome of arm hand skilled performnace in persons with a C-SCI during active rehabilitation up to 1 year after discharge. Chapter 4 is a systematic review on current training programs regarding arm and hand functioning in persons with C-SCI. Chapter 5 reports on the development of a conceptual framework on arm hand skilled performance training. Chapter 6 addresses the evaluation of the task-oriented client-centred upper extremity training module in C-SCI. Chapter 7 reports on the synthesis of the main research findings.
