Abstract
This article introduces the Social Construction of Technology (SCOT) and discusses some of its philosophical underpinnings and implications. To celebrate the memory of my friend and colleague Trevor Pinch, I shall mention some of our personal experiences in developing SCOT, especially where these may help to understand SCOT better. The article's core builds on my earlier SCOT overview (Bijker 2015). Especially for this publication in the Chinese journal Philosophical Analysis (哲學分析), I have added intermezzo’s about some of the philosophical puzzles we have encountered in developing SCOT (see Table 1). Many of these puzzles would merit a full-length article, but I have restricted myself to an elementary discussion and include references to other sources with a more elaborate treatment.
