Her PhD research focused on the evolution of migration as a global policy issue and the role of international organizations in this process. Her main research focus area is migration governance, with a particular interest in the role of different actors (such as national governments, local municipalities, international organizations, civil society organizations) in the governance of migration and how this has evolved over time. Other interests include policy coherence, the translation of norms across different governance levels (such as in the implementation of commitments made by States in the SDGs or the Global Compact for Migration), and the role of funding in these processes.
