Making care fit for young adults with type 1 diabete - PI Marleen Kunneman

Activity: Consultancy / Advice / PRConsultancy / Advise external partiesAcademic

Description

Rationale: Young adults with type one diabetes (T1D) have relatively poor biomedical and psychosocial outcomes. This may be related to the age-specific challenges they face, and the constant efforts they have to make to implement care into their ever-changing lives. It is unclear what young adults have to do to optimally balance their diabetes care and their personal life, what the impact is of trying to balance care and life, and what they discuss about these efforts and impact with their clinician.

Objectives: (1) to assess the efforts of young adults with T1D (i.e., what they do) to make diabetes care fit in their lives, (2) to assess the impact of diabetes care on their lives, and (3) to determine what is needed to discuss and consider these efforts and impact with clinicians during encounters.
